Outpatient Programs in Houston, Texas: A Step-By-Step Process

An outpatient program is a flexible addiction treatment offered in various rehab facilities, like Skyward Treatment in Houston, Texas.

Individuals who suffer from mild to moderate substance use disorder, anxiety or depression, mood disorders, OCD, bipolar, behavioral issues, etc., can benefit from this program.

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) are examples of outpatient treatment programs. These rehabilitation programs offer a great deal of support in eliminating substance use disorder, reducing symptoms, encouraging sobriety, and more.

To give readers a look at Skyward Treatment’s outpatient treatment programs, here’s the step-by-step process:

  1. Gathering of Information

When you inquire about our treatment programs, one of our staff will ask you for general information and insurance information. The insurance information is needed to ensure whether your provider can cover the whole program or only a part of it.

Then, we will discuss all your options for treatment.

  1. Screening

If you decide to continue, one of our clinicians will start the screening process to ensure the right program for you or your loved one. The screening usually lasts up to 10-15 minutes. Typically, it involves an interview about the history of your addiction, like the length of the addiction, the chosen drug, the symptoms, etc.

  1. Intake Appointment

You will speak with a board-certified psychiatrist and a trained therapist at the intake meeting. Typically, it takes at least 2 hours to ensure all information and paperwork are done.

The treatment program suited for your situation will be discussed at the intake. It’s either you will start the 5-day PHP or the 3-day IOP treatment. For a child or a teen with substance use disorder, we require the parents to accompany them. For adults, we advise them, whenever possible, to bring their parents, partner, or other support systems.

  1. Recovery Journey

After the intake, you will immediately start your recovery journey the next day. You will be assigned a therapist who will be your main contact person during your recovery journey. They will set up an orientation with you during which they will go over the guidelines of the program, as well as your first family session, group therapy, and individual sessions.

The course of treatment will now depend on the needs and development of each individual. You will gain knowledge of skills that will assist you in controlling your emotions, actions, and behaviors to successfully reach sobriety.
